Zurich has confirmed that general insurance managing director Anne Torry will head up its UK life business under its new management structure.
While Zurich’s life business will have no formal chief executive, Torry will serve as head of UK life and chief executive of its legal entities Zurich Assurance plc and Sterling Investment Managers Limited from 1 July.
She will be based in Swindon and report to Vibhu Sharma, who is currently chief executive of Zurich’s UK general insurance business and country head. He will take on the role of UK country head under the new structure.
Jim Sykes, who was serving as interim head of UK life since former chief executive Gary Shaughnessy left in January to become chief executive of Zurich’s global life business, will resume his old position of chief operating officer.
Under Zurich’s new structure announced last week, Shaughnessy (pictured) will become chief executive for Europe, Middle East and Africa. New regional heads such as Sharma will report directly to the group chief executive.
