Pear Talent is representing a globally recognisable FTSE100 Financial Services business who are looking for an ambitious Finance graduate or part-qualified Accountant to join their City based Group Finance team in a challenging and varied role. This team provide the financial results as well as the supporting commentary and analysis on the Company’s performance that’s announced to the stock market.
You’ll be the latest addition to a high-calibre team and benefit from tailored development and support in completing your accounting qualification (costs + time off). You’ll also have regular exposure to other teams and senior management across Group Finance, leading to a real breadth of experience and great prospects for internal progression.
Key accountabilities:
- Understand the Company including the markets in which they operate, their strategies, risks, products and key drivers of performance;
- Involved from start to finish in the process of reporting the Group’s financial statements to the stock market (incl. calculations, consolidation, reporting and analysis);
- Collaborate with business units to coordinate and obtain financial information;
- Analyse the Group results and respond to senior management’s questions;
- In partnership with other teams across the Group you’ll support process improvements by identifying opportunities to streamline existing processes;
- Build effective relationships with key stakeholders within the business units and across Group Finance to deliver the financial results;
- Gain credibility with senior stakeholders and demonstrate first class communication skills;
- Work is often ad-hoc and project based, so adaptability and flexibility is key.
Required experience:
- Finance/Accounting Graduate or part-qualified Accountant, ideally with some exams completed;
- Early stage Finance/Accounting experience in a similar role (advantage);
- Familiarity with preparation and consolidation of financial accounts (advantage);
- Organised self-starter able to work to tight deadlines and under pressure;
- Able to think flexibly and open to new ideas, with strong problem-solving and analytical skills and enthusiasm to improve processes;
- Strong interpersonal skills, able to liaise with stakeholders from different specialisms in different locations and at different levels of seniority;
- Close attention to detail and accuracy.
