Ex-Aviva UK life chief joins Old Mutual Wealth

Former Aviva UK life chief executive David Barral has joined Old Mutual Wealth to oversee a new committee that reviews the company’s relationship with customers.

Barral (pictured) will be independent customer champion to the Customer Outcomes Forum.

The forum has been established by Old Mutual Wealth head of distribution Richard Freeman. It will meet monthly to assess how changes to Old Mutual’s products or businesses affect customers.

The committee will look at changes across Old Mutual Wealth, including advice network Intrinsic, and the Old Mutual Wealth platform.

Freeman will chair the committee, which will meet for the first time before the end of the year.

In his role, Barral will provide independent oversight to the committee.

Since leaving Aviva in 2015, Barral has been appointed to the board of LV= as a non-executive director. He is currently chairman of lender Vantage Finance, and is also chairman of Virgin Wines.

Barral said the creation of the Customer Outcomes Forum ‘recognises the importance of a strong customer focus’ for Old Mutual Wealth.
