Former FCA long-term savings and pensions director Nick Poyntz-Wright has joined Just Retirement as a non-executive director six months after leaving the regulator under the cloud of the bungled closed-book briefing.

Poyntz-Wright joined the FSA in 2011 after seven years as chief executive of Skandia UK then Old Mutual Wealth.

But in September 2015 Money Marketing revealed he had left the FCA. The previous December it transpired he gave the ill-fated media briefing that sent insurer share prices tumbling in March 2014.

His move to Just Retirement comes as the annuity provider enters the final stages of its merger with rival Partnership.

Just Retirement chief executive Rodney Cook says: “We are delighted to welcome Nick to the Board of Just Retirement Limited. He brings strong regulatory and commercial leadership from the life, pensions and investment sector and we look forward to his valuable contribution to support the growth of the business.”

Poyntz-Wright says: “I am delighted to join the Board of Just Retirement Limited and have been really impressed with their strong customer focus and the conviction they have shown in addressing the recent changes in the pensions arena.

“I am looking forward to playing a part in the next phase of Just Retirement’s development.”
