A former finance chief of Old Mutual is to become the new boss of Guardian Financial Services as the ‘zombie’ life assurer weighs up the merits of a stock market flotation.
Sky News has learnt that Philip Broadley is to be installed as Guardian’s new chief executive even as the company deals with a series of takeover approaches from rivals including the FTSE-250 insurer Phoenix Group.
Mr Broadley is a respected figure in the UK insurance sector, and his appointment at Guardian will be interpreted as raising the likelihood that the company will list publicly.
