Pear Talent is representing the principal investment arm of a household Financial Services brand who have an excellent opportunity for a Corporate Finance Analyst in their exciting Alternatives Finance team. You’ll act as a finance business partner to the investment team and supporting them achieve their financial performance targets by providing financial modelling and financial planning analysis and forecasting.

The role is extremely varied in terms of its activities, reflecting the need to rapidly respond to market developments and business initiatives. You’ll be expected to be able to gain credibility with senior stakeholders and demonstrate first class project management and communication skills.

Key accountabilities:

  • Prepare monthly focussed portfolio analysis and reporting
  • Review and challenge financial cashflows models for asset valuation and profit reporting across the investment teams
  • Own the model underlying the MI pack and the 5-year plan across the Alternative Finance and Venture Capital teams
  • Provide financial business partnering, including performance monitoring, and reporting, and forecasting and support for any financial themes emerging
  • Provide decision support on investment strategies for assets, identification of drivers for business growth and profitability and resource allocation
  • Support the due diligence process for potential acquisitions and disposals
  • Provide asset valuation reporting
  • Support the Head of Finance and the Investment team in the 5-year planning process, involving both qualitative/quantitative approaches including modelling outputs to enable scenario planning.

Required experience:

The ideal candidate will be qualifying/qualified accountant (ACA, CIMA or ACCA) or CFA with previous financial analysis experience in Finance Services gained in corporate finance, valuations, FP&A, transaction services or advisory. Candidates directly from a Big4/Top10 practice background with Financial Services experience should also apply.

  • Knowledge or experience of Venture Capital or Investment Management desirable
  • Strong excel skills and financial modelling desirable
  • Experience in either Corporate Finance advisory / financial due diligence / valuation or investment management desirable
  • Demonstrable experience of working to tight deadlines and stakeholder management
  • Experience of preparing/presenting financial information for a senior audience.
  • Highly numerate and analytical with a commercial mindset.
  • Able to undertake financial analysis/evaluation in order to interpret and understand the underlying performance of the business.
  • Capable of constructively challenging and influencing others to achieve desired outcomes within deadlines.
