Pear Talent is representing a FTSE100 Financial Services business who are going through an extended period of growth and change across all areas of its business, which provides significant opportunity to radically review the Group’s cost management. As such, they’re looking for a Director of Strategic Group Cost Management with a remit to review, design and deliver a robust group-wide strategic cost management framework that will support the businesses to deliver a more efficient and commercial operating model.
You’ll be critical in driving forward the expense performance of the business by partnering closely with both Group and Division Exec and senior management in order to produce valuable insight for the Board as well as support, challenge and influence the businesses in meeting targets.
Key accountabilities:
- Own, manage and drive a robust cost management framework and culture for the Group globally
- Provide insight into total group-wide expenses across the business
- Lead detailed cost reviews of the business with Senior Management, identifying both strategic and tactical cost saving initiatives and measures, as well as monitoring their implementation
- Lead the engagement with ExCo/Senior Management teams across the business, delivering insightful understanding and reporting on cost base drivers, future trends and ongoing opportunities to remove additional cost across the business
- Improve and develop a suite of management information for regular presentation to Group and BU ExCo
- Key contributor in the strategic planning process as owner of the aggregated total expense projections, working with Senior Management teams to drive out sustainable cost forecasts with executable plans
- Actively support and promote the development of cost management capabilities across the Group
Required experience:
- Qualified accountant with significant PQE, preferably in a FTSE listed financial services business but other industries welcome
- Strong understanding of cost management frameworks
- Significant experience of working with large/complex organisations to drive out cost and help to create a culture of cost efficiency
- Strong understanding of financial dynamics and cost drivers of a large group
- Detailed knowledge of financial analysis and insight for decision support
