Pear Talent is representing a market-leading FTSE100 Financial Services business who are looking for a Director of Financial Reporting to lead a substantial team delivering all key financial and regulatory reporting, whilst working closely with the CFO/ExCo to improve financial insight and management.

Reporting to the CFO you’ll manage a large team (20-30) across multiple locations with 4x heads of departments reporting into you, as well as playing a lead role in a major finance change and improvement programme. The role involves some travel between London / South coast and the Company are supportive of flexible working and working from home.

Key accountabilities:

  • Lead the delivery of all core financial (IFRS) and regulatory reporting, providing high-quality financial analysis, commentary and disclosures.
  • Significant day-to-day interaction with CFO/ExCo stakeholders internally, as well as managing the external audit relationship.
  • Review and challenge of results and messaging, to ensure are accurate and in line with expectations.
  • Work closely with FP&A to understand and message the results consistently across forecast and actuals and provide FP&A support to understand the impact of key business decisions on actuals.
  • Work closely with Investor Relations to support external messaging.
  • Actively challenge the status-quo of current processes and systems, exploring any potential improvements.
  • Ensure the finance team is motivated and performing to the highest standard.
  • Partner with all elements of the business on complex transactions and accounting issues.
  • Continuous engagement with other functions such as the Treasury, Tax, Legal and M&A teams on specific projects.

Required experience:

  • Qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA or equivalent) with significant post-qualified experience gained in Financial Services
  • Proven track record of managing significant external financial reporting processes under IFRS
  • Experience of running process improvement projects would be an advantage
  • Quickly gains credibility at senior levels within the business
  • Able to work effectively across departments and experience of managing multi-location teams
  • Strong presentation skills and people skills, good influencer
