Pear Talent is representing a Financial Services business who have an excellent succession planning senior leadership opportunity for a Financial Controller. Reporting to the CFO and with significant Exec/Board interaction, you’ll lead a team of 20+ responsible for all key internal and external financial, regulatory and management reporting, ensuring SOX compliance and own the audit relationship. You’ll lead, mentor and develop the team, whilst guiding them through a challenging project to improve reporting process efficiency.

Key accountabilities:

  • Support the CFO in advising the Exec/Board on the financial performance of the business and provide decision support for short/long-term financial strategy.
  • Lead the annual report and accounts process for all financial, regulatory and management reporting.
  • Provide technical expertise and leadership on accounting matters and the impact of changing regulations.
  • Ensure that adequate financial controls are in place to support SOX and other declarations.
  • Establish and then manage an improved and more robust expense management function to oversee BAU and Change programme costs and benefits
  • Overseeing the finance operations function, including treasury, accounts payable, payroll, expenses and banking.
  • Oversee corporate tax and VAT
  • Ensure the team is motivated and performing to the highest standard.
  • Taking an active role in supporting the business in order to deliver on its commercial goals.
  • Taking a proactive approach to develop the finance systems and tools, in order to anticipate future growth and demands required.

Required experience:

  • Qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA or equivalent) with significant post-qualified experience gained in FS.
  • Proven track record of managing significant financial accounting teams.
  • Comfortable leading engagement with auditors and Board/Exec stakeholders.
  • Ability to quickly gain credibility at senior levels within the business and demonstrate both first class project management and communication skills.
  • Listed FS Financial reporting and accounting experience.
  • Able to liaise effectively across departments (IT, Risk, Tax etc).
  • Strong presentation skills and people skills, good influencer.
