Pear Talent is representing a globally recognisable FTSE financial services business who have an excellent opportunity for a Financial Reporting Analyst in their City based group team. This team provides the externally published financial results and supporting business performance commentary to the market and analyst community.
This is not a “handle-turning” reporting role. This is a new hire intended to improve the insight and analysis capabilities of the team through the addition of commentary to the underlying business performance.
You’ll be expected to be able to gain credibility with senior stakeholders and demonstrate first class communication skills. Work is often ad-hoc and project based with the potential for occasional travel within the UK and overseas.
Key accountabilities:
- Understand the Group’s business units including the markets in which they operate, their strategies, risks, products and key drivers of performance.
- Support the group external financial reporting (IFRS financial statements), including new business, interim reports and analyst pack.
- Analyse the group results to produce commentary for both internal management and external stakeholders.
- Produce various group disclosures for inclusion in the annual report and accounts, interims and reports to analysts.
- Support Investor Relations, responding to analyst/investor queries and assisting in the production of external presentations of the Group’s activities and results.
- Business partnering between group finance and key contacts in the business units to ensure a wider understanding of the underlying business at a group office level.
Required experience:
The ideal candidate will be a qualified accountant (ACA, CIMA, ACCA or equivalent) with a strong academic record and previous experience in a similar role within financial services. Candidates straight from audit with a top 10 accounting practice should also apply.
