Pear Talent is representing a FTSE100 Financial Service business undergoing a major finance transformation programme who have an excellent opportunity for a Manager in their Group Cost Management function.
You’ll manage a team and have ownership of a £200m cost base across 40 cost centres, providing business critical cost analysis, interpretation and reporting, whilst business partnering with the key senior stakeholders of each cost centre to support and challenge where required.
The role is extremely varied in terms of its activities, involving monthly cost reviews, budget & forecasting, statutory reporting and reporting to the overall Group’s results. You’ll be expected to be able to quickly gain credibility with senior stakeholders and own key business relationships, as well as demonstrate first-class project management and communication skills. Work is often ad-hoc and project based, and you’ll have the scope to challenge the status quo and identify improvements and efficiencies within the finance process.
Key accountabilities:
- Cost Analysis & Reporting – preparation and development of in-depth cost analysis reporting pack, including commentary on variances and explanation of trends to provide insight
- Budget and Forecasting – preparation and development of in-depth cost analysis against subsequent performance
- Relationship Management – Build strong relationships across Group functions to enable development of in-depth understanding of costs to provide insight to budget holders
- Business knowledge – quickly learn the way the business works. In particular, gain an understanding of the financial reporting, budgeting and forecast processes and our finance systems
- Submission of HY & FY results to Group reporting teams
- Work closely with external auditors
Required experience:
The ideal candidate will be a qualified accountant (CIMA or ACCA) with professional services industry experience in a similar cost management or cost accounting position gained in a business of similar scale and complexity.
