Pear Talent is representing a globally recognisable FTSE financial services business who have an excellent opportunity for a Senior Analyst, Group FP&A in their City head office. This team provides critical business performance insight and financial planning support to the group Exec, directly influencing the company’s strategic decision making. Following a recent acquisition you’ll also be involved in a post-deal integration project.

The role is extremely varied in terms of its activities, reflecting the need to rapidly respond to market developments and business unit initiatives. You’ll be expected to be able to gain credibility with senior stakeholders and demonstrate first class project management and communication skills. Work is often ad-hoc and project based with the potential for occasional travel within the UK and overseas.

Key accountabilities: 

  • Understand the Group’s business units including the markets in which they operate, strategies, risks, products and key drivers of performance.
  • Analyse group and business unit financial performance, MI, forecasts and contribute to regular monthly reporting to the group Exec.
  • Manage and develop relationships with the business units, helping to facilitate regular dialogue between business unit management and the Group office.
  • Support Investor Relations, responding to analyst/investor queries and assisting in the production of external presentations of the Group’s activities and results.
  • Analyse investment proposals, acquisitions and corporate projects, on an ad-hoc basis.

Required experience:

The ideal candidate will be a qualified accountant (ACA, CIMA or ACCA) with previous experience in a FP&A, management reporting or MI within financial services. Exceptional candidates directly from a leading audit practice with Financial Services experience should also apply.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication – especially given expected interaction with senior stakeholders as well as preparation of board material.
  • Experience of preparing/presenting financial information for a senior audience.
  • Highly numerate and analytical with a commercial mindset.
  • Able to undertake financial analysis/evaluation in order to interpret and understand the underlying performance of the business.
  • Capable of constructively challenging and influencing others to achieve desired outcomes within deadlines.
